  • Munchkin Masquerade: Head to the Pearl Street Mall for safe & fun trick or treating! Each year, Downtown Boulder is invaded by thousands of tiny ghosts & goblins, dinosaurs & dragons, fairies & princes, super heroes and animals of every size trick-or-treating along Pearl Street.  Recommended for children ages 12 and under. More info here
  • Halloween Journey: Truly a magical, one-of-a-kind, halloween experience for kids! The Boulder Valley Waldorf School campus is transformed into a magical world through which children and parents may travel. The individual presentations touch hearts with messages of wisdom and humor, and images of light that will live on through the cold and dark season of the year. This enchanting experience is lovely alternative to the popular and often gory Halloween experience of modern culture. Purchase tickets ahead of time – they sell out! More info here
  • Longmont Halloween Parade and Trick or Treat Street: Fun parade for all ages! Dress up in your Halloween Costume, march on Main Street and visit Downtown participating merchants for Trick or Treat Street immediately following the parade. Kids of all ages can be a part of this costume foot parade. No registration is required!  Strollers or wagons are recommended for tiny feet. Dogs must be leashed. 9:30 am Line-up in front of the St. Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Ave. 10:00 am Foot Parade Start!  Come in costume!   • Louisville’s Monster Dash: A kids fun run, 5k and 10k
    Come enjoy 2 fast, trail courses out on the Coal Creek Trails of Louisville. The 5k Fun Run will have just a 175 foot elevation gain out East on the trail, and the 10k Trail Race will head West on the trail through 3 parks, a small pond and some single-track…..look out for the Witches. More info here
  • Louisville Halloween Festival and Trick-or-Treat: Trick or treating & activities for the whole family! The 6th Annual Halloween Festival will feature over 25 vendors, arts and crafts, pumpkin painting, Witch “Crafts” and games inside the Pinball Shoppe. Post event activities will include BBQ Hot Dogs, costume contests and post Party at Pinball Shoppe. Kids Trick-or-Treating is in Old Town from 5pm-6pm with more stores providing activities and treats this year. More info here

Munchkin Masquerade – October 31, 2014 Bring your younger kids down to trick or treat amongst their peers along the shops on Pearl Street Mall. Always a family favorite! The kids are adorable in their costumes. The treats are everywhere. It could not be more fun. October 31, 2012 from 3:00 to 6:00pm rain or shine. Colorado Railroad Museum Trick or Treat Train – October 25 & 26

The Great Pumpkin Race & Halloween Carnival – October 27, 2014
Purchase a pumpkin and watch it race down the lazy river with the rest. Winners receive prizes like free rec-center passes. Boulder Arts Week = Great Arts Opportunities for Families!

March 28, 2014: Frequent Flyers® Aerial Fabric Solo
Frequent Flyers® Aerial Dance will present a solo aerial fabric performance on Friday, March 28th, 6-6:50 PM in the lobby of the Dairy Center for the Arts. The inimitable Kim Townsend will dazzle patrons with her strong, sensual, graceful and lovely performance. Free. 6 to 7pm.

March 29, 2014: Children’s Storytelling Hour
Please join JoLee Wingerson, storyteller and author, to hear three original children’s stories. All ages welcome, from birth to 100 +. 10 – 11am

March 30, 2014: Boulder Creek Balancing
Stone balancing will be executed by Andrew Davis and Michael Grab at Ebin G Fine Park. Kids of all ages love to try their hand at rock balancing! 9am – 5pm.

March 31, 2014: Pearl Street Mall: Student Banner Project People’s Choice Award
Downtown Boulder, Inc. worked with 66 budding artists from Columbine Elementary School, Casey Middle School and Boulder High School to create banner art for the 50 small banner poles that line the Pearl Street Mall. This year’s theme is “What I love about Boulder” and designs include images of local wildlife, Chautauqua Park, downtown Boulder landmarks and much more. Mediums used to create the banners range from collage to pencil art, water colors, and digital art.

April 5, 2014: BMoCA Presents FAMILY DAY: Art That Soars!
Bring the entire family for a fun afternoon of making ‘Art That Soars!’ with BMoCA’s inspiring art educators. Taking an ordinary balloon, and using assemblage techniques, we will create fanciful characters and abstractly imaginative shapes that will soar high above our heads and delight the town!! Free. 9 to 11am

  • ATOMS and Lego Holiday City Building Workshop. To celebrate the holiday season and share the joy of playing with ATOMS, we are turning our headquarters into a themed, open workshop space for anyone to come and build! They provide a free opportunity for anyone to come into our Boulder, CO office and build holiday creations with ATOMS. Our combined efforts will create an entire North Pole Village that moves, lights up, shakes, and pops! December 21 [10am to 4pm] & December 23 & 24 [4pm to 7pm].

  • Nature for Kids & Parents: Oh Deer!  Hike into the forest with Debora Martin, Early Childhood Educator/Volunteer Naturalist and imagine we are a herd of deer.  Play a game, sing a song, learn a magical story, then continue to prance, stroll, and play like deer while exploring their habitat. Make an antler headband to take home! Meet at the Lehigh Street entrance to Shanahan Ridge (map search 1903 Lehigh, where Lehigh and Lafayette Streets intersect) for an easy hike.  Ages 5 and up.
  • Timberline Handbell Ensemble Holiday Concert at the Main Boulder Library. Back by popular demand! This family friendly special event that celebrates the season and ring in the new year. Timberline Handbell Ensemble strives to broaden the appreciation of the art of handbell ringing in the Denver Metro area by providing excellent concerts and education for diverse audiences. 3pm.

  • Noon Tunes on Pearl Street Mall. Head down to Pearl Street for some free, grooving good tunes. Let the kids play in the pop fountain and dance the afternoon away. Noon to 1:30pm.
  • Friday Storytime at the Main Boulder Library. Come listen to stories. Free. 10:15am.
  • Wanda & The Wave Children’s Theatrical Performance. A giant wave looms over the home of Wanda. “Drip-drop!” she scolds the wave, as she goes about daily life with her dog Bones, not realizing that the wave is a companion who loves her.  A stranger muses on the possibilities of the wave, awakening Wanda’s curiosity as to what lies beyond. Told through puppetry, “Wanda & The Wave” is a whimsical tale about
    appreciating the world around us. The audience will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the puppets and performers. 7:00pm.

  • Ballet in the Park with the Boulder Ballet. The ninth-annual outdoor concert series, free to the public! This family-friendly repertoire concert features excerpts from the season along with new works, in classical and contemporary styles. Come early with a picnic, enjoy a beautiful summer evening with the ballet, and then marvel at the spontaneous dancing by children from the audience after the show! Performance length is approximately one hour. Boulder’s Central Park Bandshell, Downtown. Free. 7:00pm.
  • Charlotte’s Web performed by the Now or Never Theater brings this classic tale to life with puppets, shadows and storytelling performed by Betsy Tobin and Margarita Blush. Children and adults will love this touching story enacted with puppets and magical shadow imagery of the webs that Charlotte weaves for her friend, Wilbur.

As the Civil War continues to rage, America’s president struggles with continuing carnage on the battlefield and as he fights with many inside his own cabinet on the decision to emancipate the slaves.
